Thomas A. Badgwell, PhD

Tom is Professor of Practice at the University of Texas – Austin. His career has focused on Modeling, Optimization, and Control of Chemical Processes, with past positions at Setpoint, Fisher/Rosemount, Rice University, Aspen Technology, and ExxonMobil.  He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and a past Director of the Computing and Systems Technology (CAST) Division, from which he received the Computing Practice Award in 2013.  He currently serves as Vice-Chair of the IFAC Technical Committee TC 6.1 Chemical Process Control in Industry.

Christos Georgakis, PhD

Professor Georgakis has 50 years of experience as an educator, researcher, and industry consultant in Process Systems Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota (1975). Currently at Tufts, in 2017 he was recognized with the University’s Distinguished Senior Scholar Award. Between 1983 and 2001, more than 15 international corporations funded his research, including companies from the US, France, and Japan.  In recent years, he has collaborated on research tasks with Sunovion Pharmaceuticals, ExxonMobil, Dow, Pfizer, and Merck.
